Day 9 - See and Care for the Forgotten

Day 9 focuses on learning to see and care for the forgotten, following Jesus’ example of compassion and personal ministry. Matthew 25 reminds believers that Jesus identifies Himself with people in need, receiving every act of kindness as if it were done to Him. Ellen White emphasizes that Christ entrusts His church with the sacred work of blessing the suffering, and that the Holy Spirit opens our eyes—just as He did for Peter and John in Acts 3—so we notice those we once overlooked. Families and friends are encouraged to discuss why people notice different needs, pray for Jesus’ heart, and reflect on community members who may be struggling. In the church setting, groups thank God for Jesus’ personal ministry, repent of indifference, ask to be sent into the harvest, and testify about acts of love from the previous day. The Word study highlights that true ministry requires drawing close to people, relieving the poor, comforting the hurting, and offering practical help empowered by prayer and God’s love. The appeal invites believers to seek Jesus’ compassion for the overlooked, and the 24‑Hour Challenge calls each person to find someone forgotten in their community and minister to them in Jesus’ name.
