Day 3 - Meet Jesus When He Surprises Us

  • 1 min read

Day 3 invites believers to reflect on Jesus’ ascension and His promised return by studying passages such as John 14:1–3, Acts 1:9–11, Matthew 24:42–44, and 1 Thessalonians 4:16–18. The readings emphasize that Jesus is personally preparing a place for His followers and will return visibly and triumphantly, just as He ascended. Ellen White describes the beauty of His ascension and the assurance that the same Jesus who walked with the disciples will come again to welcome His people into His kingdom. Families and church groups are encouraged to pray for readiness, seek the Holy Spirit, practice watchfulness, and cultivate urgency in preparing for Christ’s return. Through worship, confession, testimony, and activities that highlight waiting and expectation, participants are reminded that Jesus’ coming may surprise us, so our hearts must stay open, surrendered, and spiritually awake. The day concludes with an appeal to let the Holy Spirit prepare each person for Jesus’ soon return and a 24‑hour challenge to ask God what needs to change in one’s relationship with Christ to be ready to meet Him face‑to‑face.
