FAITH AND FELLOWSHIP AT HVA CAMP MEETING

We were blessed with sunny weather on June 15th, the third Sabbath of the month. Eighteen Deaf Adventists and four hearing children from Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. gathered with a large crowd at Highland View Academy (HVA) in Hagerstown, Maryland, for a camp meeting organized by the Chesapeake Conference of SDA.

Our day began with a Sabbath school class called 'Faith Alive.' Following this, we participated in a special worship service. Thanks to Monica Mack and Cindy Mease, two proficient interpreters, everyone could follow along. The speaker, Mark Finley, shared captivating stories about how his preaching has impacted people globally and led to numerous baptisms during difficult times. This Sabbath was extra special because we witnessed a baptism during the service!

After the service, we shared an enjoyable picnic lunch and had time to mingle. Later, we visited Messiah’s Mansion. It was our first experience with a model of the Old Testament Tabernacle, originally built by the Hebrews for worship. The tour included five stations:

• The first station depicted the structure of the Hebrew Tabernacle.

• The second explained the significance of the Altar of Sacrifice and the laver.

• The third showed the Table of Shewbread, the Altar of Incense, and the Candelabra.

• The fourth featured the Ark of the Covenant in the Holiest Place.

• The fifth station described the High Priest's special garments and their significance.

This tour was like stepping into a living museum, providing rich historical insight. We’re excited about the different topics and events that next year’s camp meeting will offer. Keep an eye out for announcements in April!
